Blogs review.

If you want to become a model you should always start with research on modelling industry. You should know the big names – of modelling agencies, photographers, models and designers. Your work as a model is closely tied to fashion, you should keep track of current trends; many famous models are known for being fashion icons and trendsetters, so you should also work out your own style and be informed on what is ‘hot’ in the fashion world.

Chic Heroin

I'm Elizabeth Victoria, a university student living in Toronto, Canada. I started Chic Heroin two years ago as a way to express my personal style after reading other fashion blogs for many years. After modelling for a short while in my teens, I realized that my love was for the fashion industry itself, rather than modelling, and began to pursue a career in fashion publishing. I still model from time to time, and occasionally post shoots on my blog. My blog is a diary of what I'm wearing and what I'm doing, and I post outfit posts, personal pictures and clothes that have caught my eye, among other things.

Q: What or who is your biggest inspiration?

A: Jane Birkin, Edie Sedgwick and Alexa Chung

Q: Why are you interested in fashion / design / photography?
A: I love that fashion can transport you. You can change your style to reflect what inspires you, depending on your mood and who you are at that point in time. I love that it's constantly growing and changing and is different for everyone. I also love that it is a universal interest, and that people all across the world can bond over fashion and blogging and discuss it together.

Q:  How would you describe your style?

A: I like to dress relatively simply, but always with a twist. I prefer to wear things that are always a bit unexpected, and always mix designer labels with high street and vintage finds, never too much of the same thing.

Q: Does your blog help you in your career?
A: I'm currently a student, but would like to go into fashion editing or writing, and blogging is certainly great practice for both of these possible careers.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time? - apart from blogging obviously!
A: ... apart from blogging. I'm a full time student, which takes up much of my time. I also travel extensively, love to read and explore new restaurants and vintage stores in Toronto.

Q: What is your advice for young people interested in a career in fashion / design / photography?
A: My best advice is to learn as much as you possibly can about your chosen field. The best way to do this is research via the internet and all the books that you can get your hands on. But that sort of learning only gets you to a certain point, and after that you have to immerse yourself in every opportunity possible, by volunteering for local fashion weeks, interning, assisting, blogging and taking school courses in your chosen field.
