Well basically my teeth have never bothered me untill i was curious and got more interested in how to change my look so i went to the orthodontist and they said its totally personal choice, if i wanted a brace they would give me one on the top and on the bottom for about 12-18 months. If my teeth moved quicker than average i wouldnt have it on for that long, but im 17 and i want to get into modelling, do yo uthink it is wise getting it done, or would it not benefit me anyway because i am only after doing commercial modelling becaus emy frame is too big for high fashion? or do you think my teeth look ok?
To have the brace i have to have two teeth out at the back to make room, pleasee offer advice as its a toughie!!
Thankyouuu xxxx

Hello Rebecca,
I am 23 and was 17 your age when I got braces, in my case it was the right decision. I had one last chance to fix my teeth before I would have had to pay, as the NHS will cover orthodontist treatment as long as you start treatment before you're 18th birthday. I wasn't embarking on a modelling career at the time and my teeth were noticeably uneven, I woudn't say your teeth desperately need braces, but having them can dramatically improve your smile and appearance aesthetically. Its up to you, but you should talk to your dentist and get an idea of how much it will improve your teeth.

I honestly think if you dont need them then there is no need to have them. You should really do it because you want it. As Melissa said the results can be great especially if your teeth arent straight but take her advice on asking your denstist if you really need it.
I think now days they have braces that you can remove when needed, so you can always ask your dentist if they will be fixed or flexible ones, this way if you get any modeling jobs you can always remove it during the time of shoot then put them back on again after.
Best of luck,
Kamil

Thankyou for the advice, yes i would havr to pay otherwise, can i ask how long did you have yours on for melissa? And they said it is personal choice, i dont need them its how much i want them, but the thing is i dont really wenat them unles sit will help me improve my look to get into modelling, Melissa did you get into modelling after you had your teeth done?
hi , i think its a good thing to have braces because your teeth will look really good after you've had them off ( you wont even have them on for a long period of time, time will go quick), i dont think having braces will effect your modelling career, i mean i have braces and my agents said that i could go even further with my career by having braces braces. i hope you make the right decision :) x

Hey Rebecca, I had my braces on for roughly a year and a half. I had 2 teeth removed to allow room for my treatment and I don't remember that procedure being painful at all, it just felt a little weird afterwards. When you're younger your teeth generally move quicker with treatment, I had a great orthodontist who kindly fitted a very small wire behind my front lowers that are in sight (only if I grin cheesily!) so that they wouldn't shift as this was likely in my late teens early 20's. When I see the hygenist they are very careful about cleaning it, because the wire is very thin and I've been told if they snap it it, it would cost £500 just to have that refitted, it gives you an idea of how much these things actually cost. Going back to your next question I didn't get into modelling when I had braces, not due to the braces, I simply hadn't seriuosly thought about modelling at the time.
Best of luck with your decision,
p.s I would really like to know what you decide to do regardless.

Thanks for the advice off Kamil Melissa and eveyrone else but just wondering, is an agency gunna be put off if i have braces though? Or if i join an agency and then i get braces would they drop me or limit my work load? I do really want them done, im just worried my confidence will drop, i meen at the minute i take part in wrestling shows as a grid girl so i am smiling quite a lot, so i think it would put a massive downer on my confidence, but at the same time i do really want it done!! Any other advice on that pointer? xxx
