I went to see this agency a couple of weeks ago after being invited in for interview. I have a few professional pics but because of my height I am only really eligible for commercial work(the agency is a commercial agency). The booker guy that I spoke to said that, because of this, I would need different photos as the ones I had were too fashion orientated, weren't aimed towards my target market (fitness, commercial, dance etc) and wouldn't get me jobs. So he's offered to set me up a shoot using his 'contacts' in the industry including high calibre MUA's and photographers, and his own styling services. For this he wants to charge me £500(!). The company seems pretty legit and they have a strong client list (Virgin, Sony, etc) and all of the models/photos on the website look professional. He also said that once I had the photos from the shoot he would put them up on the website and he thinks it is highly likely that I will find work. There's something on the website about it representing daniel browne street's models which I have heard is a reputable agency. I am at a complete loss! as I said, the company looks legit and i can understand his reasoning for me needing alternative photos, but I mean £500!? That's up there with the prices off those rip-off studio factories.
