All movements start at the body’s centre of gravity (the core)


There are a lot of misconceptions about core training. When you mention core training most people would recommend to do sit ups or hundreds of crunches. This is wrong. Your core consists of the following specific muscles:

- Transverse abdominus - Lumbar Multifidus - Internal Obliques
- Diaphrag - Pelvic floor muscles - Transversospinalis


Most of these muscles will not be stimulated when doing conventional and poorly designed core routines. These muscles are worked when the body is safely trained in an environment where the body’s stabilization is challenged. In order for the body to perform efficiently we need to condition the stabilization system (the core) so that we can effectively utilise the movement system (global muscles e.g the lats) .


75%-90% of the adult population experience lower back pain. Generally, adults who experience low back pain have decreased activation of the core *(as well as other muscular imbalances) causing the muscles of the lower back to become dominant. When performing traditional ab exercises without proper stabilization of the core, you will be doing more harm than good.


Core training cannot affect body fat around the stomach. Trying to get a toned stomach by doing sit ups will not work and will not improve your core, so why waste time doing them? A well designed and individualized core program can:
  • Improve posture
  • Reduce stomach protrusion
  • Improves balance
  • Reduce risk of injury
  • Improves speed/strength/power
