Happy travel with Samsonite and Victor & Rolf

The Dutch design duo of Rolf Snoeren and Viktor Horsting are set to design the Black Label collection of Samsonite for 2009. Following the example of Alexander McQueen, whose skeletal sculptures created the coolest of wheely bags for the company, expect Samsonite bags in the shape of violins, cow bells or Russian dolls, to name just a few of the surreal creations of Viktor & Rolf.

"We are working on the idea of 'happy travel' - trying to do something more naïve and personal," said Snoeren on Monday. "A lot of luggage is very technical and impersonal - it's a challenge."
