Along with Claudia Schiffer being named the new face of Chanel, and Karlie Kloss being touted as the face of Dior, this coming season is providing proof – if further proof were needed – that the fashion industry is rapidly regaining its appetite for models. Lara Stone, who is currently gracing the cover of the December issue of Vogue, is set to replace Madonna as the representative of luxury brand Louis Vuitton. Madonna, who has just finished a two-season stint with the label, created some controversy with her whole hearted championing of Marc Jacobs’ more directional trends. Her appearance at the Met Ball in New York earlier this year, wearing the famous Vuitton bunny ears, provoked much comment and debate from fashion journalists and bloggers alike. The swing from hiring celebrities back to models is also seeping into beauty brands too, with the announcement that Georgia May Jagger will join Coco Rocha to represent budget-beauty favourite Rimmel this Spring. Georgia’s rise continues with the recent confirmation that she will also front the Versace campaigns in 2010, replacing Gisele Bundchen and Paul Sculfor. This signing with the Italian label will be a second generation coup, as Georgia’s mother (Seventies supermodel and fashion icon Jerry Hall) modelled for the label over 20 years ago, posing for legendary photographer Richard Avedon. With their latest signing possessing such an impeccable modelling pedigree, Versace must be hoping that 17-year-old Jagger will create a campaign that takes Versace into the next decade, and introduces their super-luxe sophistication to a whole new generation.
