As this fashion year comes to a close, thoughts inevitably turn to what will be setting the pace for 2010.
A new decade always sparks possibility for change, meaning new trends, new designers and of course, new models. If you were wondering who might be the next Lily Cole or Jourdan Dunn, British Vogue has done the legwork for you, trawling through the latest model recruits, and making their choice from the models with the most promise.
An old hand at picking faces that will ‘make the grade’, Vogue’s selection comes from the stables of the very best agencies, including Storm, Models 1, Premier and Select.
Among the girls pre-empted for greatness, are 15-year-old Aisha Wiggins (Models 1) who was discovered when she went to the agency for work experience; Katie Whiteley from Milton Keynes who is a recent signing at Select after being scouted at Clothes Show Live, and 18-year-old Keats at Premier has already done shows this past season for Mulberry and fashion hot-ticket, Josh Goot.
But the girl who is already commanding serious buzz in the fashion press, is 17-year-old Londoner, Stephanie Rad.
Spotted in French Connection, she was immediately snapped up by Storm agency founder Sarah Doukas. Already noteworthy for discovering Kate Moss, Doukas’ eye for new talent appears to have hit the mark again, with Stephanie causing a sensation by walking exclusively for Prada in their Autumn / Winter show earlier this year. In addition, her fledging CV also boasts a campaign for D&G plus a promotional shoot for high-street favourite COS.
Having made such a brilliant debut, Stephanie must be hoping that 2010 is the year that she goes straight to the top of the class.
