Following news last year that Canadian model Coco Rocha was intending to launch her own clothing line, several months on, it seems that all that’s left to do is add some finishing touches to what will be Coco’s first collection.
In a daring move, Coco has confirmed that she will be wearing one of her own designs to the Grammy Awards on January 31st, whilst doing duty as a red-carpet reporter for Entertainment Tonight.
Rocha has also teased the fashion world with a few fleeting glimpses of the collection, posted on her blog ohsococo.blogspot.com
The photo on the website, of a deep-blue jacket with long sleeves and a wasp-ish waist, hints at Coco’s love of vintage fashion. A self-confessed fan of costume dramas, we are told to expect a collection that takes us on a virtual tour of fashion history, taking in the best of Edwardian and Victorian influences in particular.
The collection is strongly anticipated to mirror Coco’s personal style, but as yet, the name of the collection is still a mystery. Reportedly in the final stages with lawyers, the name has yet to be made public. Last year Coco famously tasked her loyal fan base to come up with suggestions, and it’s just a matter of time before the big reveal. Will the name be Coco’s something borrowed, or will it be a Rocha original?
Whatever the final name of the collection turns out to be, there are rumours that Rocha’s collection will debut at the New York Fashion Week in September. With Erin Wasson’s RVCA collection doing great business last year, we may see the sensation of 2010 being Rocha’s long awaited fashion debut.
